Sanjay Jain
Professor EmeritusSanjay Jain is a design provocateur, has intertwining academic and industry experience of more than 35 years. He pursued his engineering from IIT Bombay and Masters in Product Design at Industrial Design Centre, IIT Bombay. He has worked for many global brands like MIT Institute of Design, Pune, Uptron India Ltd., Lucknow, Wipro Consumer Care & Lighting, Aurangabad, and Bajaj Electricals, Mumbai. Sanjay is a Motorola-trained Green Belt of Six Sigma Quality Mission, Wipro Corporation. Sanjay contributed to build various academic collaborations with prominent design institutes from the US, UK, Europe, Hong Kong, and Singapore. He teamed up with other eminent academicians, industry representatives, and young design students to build a design curriculum integrated with other disciplines like engineering and liberal studies. Sanjay has been nominated as Distinguished Alumnus of IDC in the field of Design Education during the Golden Jubilee celebration of IDC. He has also been a winner of the Gandhian Young Technological Innovator Award (GYTI), 2015 as a faculty mentor along with design students for ‘an intelligent enabling device for Deaf Dancers’. Many of the lighting products and systems designed by him and his team are successful products in the marketplace and a select few have won national recognition. Sanjay strongly believes that the emerging roles of a 21st-century faculty are those of a co-learner, a seeker, a collaborator, a mentor, and a provocateur. He feels that ‘learning’ and ‘creating’ should be an intense joy for everyone involved in it.
